The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has awarded Aloft Aviation Consulting a contract for a review and study of Sub-part Q Regulations. The IAA carries out a range of operational and regulatory functions and services on behalf of Ireland relating to the safety and technical aspects of civil aviation.

Aloft Aviation Consulting President and CEO Tom Lintner has been appointed by NATO Brussels as Civil Expert – Flight Operations Emergency Management following a recommendation from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Based on his strong qualifications and experience in Crisis Response and Air Traffic Management, Tom was selected to serve in the advisory capacity to support NATO operations worldwide for a three-year term.

Aloft Aviation Consulting client, nasair, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s national carrier, received “The Best Interactive Award” from the Pan Arab Awards Academy under Airlines Category in Amman – Jordan on 19th June 2012. This is the first time an Airlines category was added under the Facebook application awards.
nasair’s Facebook site (www.facebook.com/nasair) was recognized as one of the most engaged airline sites on Facebook in the MENA region as per Social Watch list (www.socialwatchlist.com), which weekly monitors the Facebook pages in the MENA region.

Aloft Aviation Consulting Wins “Just Culture” Training Course Contract with EUROCONTROL

Aloft has been awarded a contract by EUROCONTROL to provide the formation/training of independent ATM or aviation experts that would be available to advise prosecutors and judges in case of criminal investigations resulting from aviation incidents or accidents. The goal will be to build a “pool” of highly qualified independent experts that would be available on demand and would contribute to a more mature relationship between the judiciary and aviation safety experts, and stimulate exchange of know-how. This pool of individuals will have the knowledge and ability to reconcile and integrate both the factual and the legal elements involved in a given case, allowing the judiciary to take balanced decisions reflecting a Just Culture environment.

Aloft expands team with the addition of two leading professionals

Bob Dodd, a former Qantas Airlines Safety Manager with a distinguished 34 year career in aviation safety, has joined the Aloft team in the role as Senior Director – Safety and Risk Management. Bob has spent more than thirty years in aviation safety working in both the public and private industry roles. For the last ten years he has worked in the safety function of Qantas. Initially focused on establishing safety management systems and basic risk management capability his role evolved to more general management of safety across both operational and occupational safety areas. His achievements include the development of a state of the art safety performance indicator system based on risk, building an integrated safety review process, and, more recently, the use of generic bowtie risk models to support continuous estimation of risk levels, threat vulnerability and control effectiveness. Prior to joining Qantas, Bob held senior roles in aviation safety regulation – managing safety promotion, regulatory standards redevelopment programme with CASA in Australia. He has also held a number of roles in safety investigation and analysis with both TSB in Canada and BASI (now ATSB) in Australia.

Edward Shelswell-White, a former Southwest Airlines Director, has joined the Aloft team in the role as Senior Director – Market Strategy and Performance for airlines and airports. He is a seasoned leader and innovator in airline and airport planning, commercial and marketing strategy, revenue and market share target setting, brand management, and program and portfolio management. A former Southwest Airlines leader for 22 years, Edward offers experience and expertise gained in a unique environment within one of the most successful airlines in aviation history that knows how to manage costs and increase revenues while maintaining outstanding customer relations. He has developed strong skills in all areas of marketing and performance management and strategy execution, training and coaching people in their development, and results driven through clearly defining and aligning objectives and metrics. During his tenure at Southwest, Edward led confidential, inter-departmental projects to improve city, network and brand performance; evaluated potential new product lines; and identified marketing and network opportunities and risks in proposed acquisitions. He also evaluated and recommended corporate objectives and strategies for existing and potential markets for the airline. Additional experience was gained on the Airport – Properties and Facilities side of the airline, where he led public sector, multi-party lease and facility negotiations and devised and implemented facility strategies to manage airport costs while providing adequate facilities.
